Olivia Culpo’s sisters have responded to the backlash the influencer received for her choice of wedding dress when she walked down the aisle June 29.
For the ceremony, the 32-year-old bride chose a very modest Dolce & Gabbana gown with long sleeves, a high neck and A-line skirt.
The former Miss Rhode Island USA told Vogue she ‘didn’t want it to exude sex in any way, shape or form.’
‘I wanted it to feel effortless and as if it’s complimenting me, not overpowering me. There’s so much beauty and simplicity,’ she told the outlet.
Some of the comments were so cruel, Olivia, 32, and husband Christian McCaffrey, 28, responded to them on social media.
‘What an evil thing to post online,’ the San Francisco 49ers running back wrote.
‘I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does.’
In an interview with People ahead of their collaboration with Thorne, Aurora, 35, and Sophia Culpo, 27 spoke about the vitriol posted by their sister’s haters.
‘Social media can be so toxic, and I do think people will say anything for views,’ Sophia asserted.
‘They’ll use any language to start a controversy just for their own personal gain,’ she said, adding, ‘To do it on someone’s wedding day, I think that’s really tasteless.’
Aurora agreed. ‘I think for anybody to comment on anybody’s personal choice in a wedding dress is just pretty absurd.’
‘I wish I could say I was surprised,’ she continued. ‘But, people love to ruin a beautiful moment.’
For her reception, Olivia chose several other looks, including a strapless chiffon gown with an empire waist.
That frock received high praise from fans and frenemies alike.
‘Beautiful and elegant in every way,’ wrote one fan. ‘Gorgeous!!’ and ‘Beautiful’ were also popular remarks.
Later in the evening, she changed outfits again for the after-party. That time she opted for a fifties style strapless body suit beneath a diaphanous short hoop skirt, which also had its share of detractors.
‘She went from nun to 100 real quick with the outfits,’ opined a follower. ‘From church to club….,’ suggested another.
