Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering negotiations as their interests are aligning once again for the upcoming 2024-25 season, however, fans did not react positively to Zeke’s return to Dallas.
Dallas fans’ reactions to Zeke’s possible return
According to ESPN, both parties are open to talks but such a meeting and potential deal has not been confirmed yet, after Elliott was part of the New England Patriots the previous NFL season, due to an injury to Rhamondre Stevenson that opened the door for the former Cowboy.
Elliott finished the 2023 season with 642 yards on 184 carries and three touchdowns while adding 313 yards on 51 receptions and two more touchdowns.
As soon as the news broke that Zeke’s return to the Cowboys was a possibility loyal fans of the Lone Star team reacted with mixed opinions on the subject, which, for the most part, talk about Elliott’s low productivity in recent years.
One fan commented, “Oh wow, he’s cooking like an Easter egg.” While other responses were on the opposite side of a pleasant surprise.
” Just don’t understand a thing this organization is doing those off-season. Cowboys let Zeke go two years ago because there was no tread on the tires. Now they want to bring him back? Nuts!”
While another fan was harsher noting that, ” Actually it would be beyond stupid since he’s washed up which is precisely why dumb and dumber, Jerry and Stephen will probably do it”
Elliott was selected by Dallas in the 2016 NFL Draft as the fourth overall pick. He played seven seasons with Cowboys and was the league’s leading rusher in two of his first three years in the NFL.
In his eight years as a pro, he totals 8,904 yards and 71 touchdowns, along with 356 receptions for 2,649 yards and 14 touchdowns.
