The Giants-Jets rivalry doesn’t matter when belligerent fans are involved.
Jets star Breece Hall was helped out by Giants legend Carl Banks in an airport incident on Super Bowl Sunday, according to TMZ.
After a week in Las Vegas leading up to the Super Bowl, the Jets’ star running back touched down at Newark Liberty International Airport, where he ran into a fan at baggage claim asking for his autograph.
For whatever reason, Hall preferred not to sign and things took an ugly turn.
A witness nearby saw the altercation and started recording on a phone, but it’s not exactly clear what had been said or done to start the commotion.
“So, be a man. If you’re gonna slap me, slap me!” the fan can be heard yelling at Hall, 22.
Banks, 61, then intervened, the former linebacker putting his 6-foot-4 frame in between Hall and the fan to de-escalate the situation.
The fan kept jabbing at Hall, who, despite the altercation, seemed to remain calm.
The incident stirred up reactions of nearby travelers, as an off-camera witness could be heard yelling, “It’s a federal crime if you get in a fight at the airport.”
As the man finally walked away from Hall and Banks, he let out a final insult.
“Get the f–k out of here, p–sy!”
When asked why he stepped in to help Hall, Banks told TMZ he didn’t want to stand by and let the star get messed with.
Both were seen at the Stadium Series Rangers vs. Islanders matchup on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
This past season, Hall tallied five touchdowns and was just six yards short of hitting 1,000 just 15 months after tearing his ACL.
In the team’s season finale against the Patriots on Jan. 7, he ran 37 times for 178 yards highlighted with a game-winning 50-yard touchdown. Hall also caught two passes for 12 yards.
