Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are celebrating their Christmas game win with an extra sweet treat!
On Dec. 25, after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-10 and clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, Mahomes, 29, and Kelce, 35, returned to the field to join senior NFL reporter Stacey Dales. They were surprised by Netflix with footballs made of cake. After struggling to open his football, Kelce cracked his open.
“Oh yeah, look at that,” the tight end says, holding up the cake, which was captured in a video and posted on X by the team. “A little red velvet.”
While Kelce proceeded to take a bite of the cake, his quarterback decided not to give it a taste.
“I’m watching my weight until playoffs, you know?” the quarterback says, laughing.
“More push-aways than pull-ins, that’s what Coach [Andy] Reid would say,” Kelce chimes in, as he continues to eat the cake.
As the three continue chatting, Dales asks Kelce how the cake tastes.
“Very red velvety,” Kelce replies. “It’s very spot on. It’s good. I’m gonna take this into the locker room and get some victory cake.”
Mahomes, however, had different plans for his cake. “Coach Reid’s ready for it, I’ll be taking it to him,” he says
Aside from celebrating with the cake, Mahomes also shared during the interview what the win means for him and his family, including his wife, Brittany Mahomes, 30, who is pregnant, their 3-year-old daughter, Sterling Skye, and 2-year-old son, Bronze.
“I told my wife I was gonna get her the No. 1 seed so we can go have that baby,” he says.
Kelce, on the other hand, rang in the holiday spirit with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, by gifting presents to Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones and his girlfriend, Sheawna Weathersby.
On Christmas Day, Weathersby took to her Instagram Story to share a photo of beautifully wrapped gifts under a festive tree. Attached was a card signed, “Merry Christmas” from “Travis and Taylor.”
“So blessed & grateful this holiday season,” Weathersby captioned the snapshot, adding, “Thank youuuu, Tay Tay!!!”
The Chiefs will play one more game next week, against the Broncos in Denver, to close out the regular season.
