San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle’s wife Claire had an exclusive interview with USWeekly on Wednesday. During the interview, Claire shared her opinion on the term ‘WAG’ and expressed no issues with it.

‘WAG’ is an acronym referring to wives and girlfriends of NFL players and many people find it sexist and reductive. It can be argued to detract from a person’s sense of identity, more or less labeling them as an extension of their partner instead of as an individual. In fact, the Equalities and Human Rights Commission even labeled this term as “derogatory” in 2010.

That said, Claire Kittle has no problem being called a ‘WAG.’ Talking about the same, she said:

“It’s a short and quick term, you know? What else would have the same effect? It kind of works!”

If we talk about the community the term represents, it’s often quite strong, and the bond between Claire Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk, and Olivia Culpo is an example of it. The 49ers trio have often been spotted cheering for their husbands together.

Claire opened up on 49ers tight-knit community:

“It’s unbelievable here. This is our eighth year, which is just rare in itself to have him play for one team for his entire career thus far. We’re just so blessed and grateful to be part of this organization. They really are top in the NFL and you’ll hear that across the board from other families, too.”

Claire’s statement came almost a day after she gifted a unique present to her husband, George Kittle, on his 31st birthday.

George Kittle’s wife Claire celebrated the tight end’s 31st birthday on Wednesday with some adorable throwback pictures on Instagram. Claire penned down a special birthday wish for George on her Instagram story, which was attached with a handful of pictures of them.

“I keep becoming more and more obsessed with you, so that’s fun. Happy birthday my love @gkittle,” Claire wrote.

Claire also shared a clip on her Instagram story featuring George Kittle placing his 31st birthday gift behind the kitchen sink. For the tight end’s birthday, Claire gifted him a miniature Tyrannosaurus. Sharing Kittle’s reaction to the present, Claire wrote:

“I can play with him. That’s a good looking T rex!”
