George Kittle Reveals Significant Weight Loss After Surgery During NFL Season: ‘I Feel Great About Myself’

San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle revealed that he lost and regained 30lbs during the offseason after a shoulder surgery.

During their losing effort at Super Bowl LVIII in February, the tight end suffered an A/C joint separation on his right shoulder. The injury would keep him from working out for a period during their break.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Kittle talked about going down to 214lbs post-surgery and regaining the weight before heading into training camp.

‘214lbs, it was really fun,’ Kittle said with a smile when asked about his weight dip. ‘My wife was like: ‘What are you right now?’ I said: ‘Ah, thanks sweetie, I feel great about myself.”

‘If I don’t workout, I lose weight pretty fast,’ he continued. ‘Because I had the A/C thing with my shoulder from the Super Bowl, and from the surgery, I couldn’t really do any type of lifting.’

‘I didn’t really do a lot for several weeks,’ Kittle claimed before speaking about regaining the weight.

‘I got it back up, because I usually play the whole season around 242 to 245[lbs]. I got back up to 243 this past week so I was excited about that. Weight’s all back.

Kittle looks to come back this season after a successful campaign that did everything but secure a title.

The former Iowa Hawkeye made 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season for San Francisco.

In the playoffs, he made eight catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Kittle had his best performance in the postseason against the Green Bay Packers in the divisional playoffs with four catches, 81 yards, and his lone touchdown the 24-21 win.

He would make two receptions for 27 yards in a thrilling 34-31 win against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game.

The injury he addressed would hold him to two receptions and four yards in the Super Bowl as the 49ers fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
