CeeDee Lamb Addresses Trade and Holdout Rumors: ‘I’m Staying in Dallas!’

Jan 14, 2024; Arlington, Texas, USA; Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (88) before the 2024

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys, who have been coping with rumors of roster issues with the stars that now make up the team and news of inaction when it comes to enhancing the roster, will undoubtedly find some solace in those four words.

In this instance, All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb is responding to the most recent rumors that he may be holding out for a contract extension coming into the 2024 season. These rumors follow rumors that Dallas may decide to trade standout rather than offer him a long-term deal extension that would put him among the highest-paid receivers in NFL history.

According to Lamb, his top goal for 2024 is to support Dallas and its quarterback, Dak Prescott, who is also in the news because he was originally part of a plan to receive an extension, but team owner Jerry Jones recently stated that this plan is changing and there is no rush to re-up the QB, potentially making him a free agent in a year.

In Lamb’s instance, he is scheduled to make $17.99 million and is in the last year of his current contract. “Barring a contract extension… Lamb won’t take the field,” the Dallas News said, generating some interest as the Cowboys prepared to begin their spring training program on April 15.

Here, The News does not cite any sources. Our position: It might be sufficient to consider such a step to be reasonable. First of all, although the Cowboys have traditionally taken pleasure in their high attendance percentage in offseason sessions, the workouts are “voluntary.” In addition, even though Lamb has a contract now, he has every right to believe that he is a $30 million APY talent and doesn’t need to rιsk being hurt in order to obtain that kind of deal.

The Cowboys also seldom take proactive measures in similar situations, usually waiting to take action until a) a deadline passes or b) an ultimatum is given. And in the instance of Lamb? He seems unprepared to sаy anything critical about his future as a Cowboy, opting instead to take the high road and sаy something encouraging.
